Help take Oregon’s House District 20 for the Democrats.
House District 20 is the Marion and Polk County Democrats’ best opportunity to take back a seat in the Oregon Legislature. Here are some reasons:
- We have a great candidate http://www.richardriggs.com/
- Richard is campaigning hard, and is well on his way to walking the whole district
- District registration numbers have swung in favor of Democrats. Since last fall registration numbers have swung 8% in Democrats favor. Democrats now have a 2% edge in voter registration.
- District 20 has consistently voted on the progressive side of ballot measures.
- District 20 consistently supports high-profile Democratic candidates.
- Supported Darlene Hooley by 56% to 41%
- Supported Kulongoski by 53% to 41%
- Supported Wyden with 61%
Most important!
- Vicki Burger is out of touch with voters in District 20. She might be a nice lady but her voting record is truely awful.
- Vicki's voting record does not fit the district.
- She opposed Measure 49 to repair the old Measure 37 and the damage it did to Oregon's land-use system, even though District 20 voted 70% in favor of M49.
- Vicki has recieved poor ratings from the League of Conservation Voters
- 2003 session - 19%
- 2005 session - 13%
- 2007 session - 65%
- Vicki voted against curbing the worst abuses of the pay day loan industry.
- Vicki voted against stem-cell research. Under strict orders from Oregon Right to Life, Vicki and every other House Republican voted to block a proposal to begin stem cell research with clear guidelines.
- Vicki voted against mortgage industry regulation.
- Vicki voted against ethics reforms aimed at curbing lobbyist abuse.
- Vicki's vote is there when the Republicans need it. She just is not the moderate she pretends to be.
