Jason Brown is the Democratic candidate for State Representative in Oregon’s House District 23. He convincingly won the contested Democratic primary race with more votes then the winner of the Republican primary who was also in a contested primary. District 23 covers a large area in the rural portion of the Mid-Willamette Valley. The district includes most of rural Polk and Benton counties, and portions of rural Marion, Yamhill and Linn counties. Cities in the district include Sheridan, Willamina, Dallas, Falls City, Monroe, Harrisburg, Halsey, and Jefferson.
Jason first ran for the District 23 seat in 2006, when he challenged incumbent Brian Boquist (R). Jason ran an energetic grass-roots campaign, holding town-hall-style meetings throughout the district and maintaining a campaign headquarters in downtown Dallas.In 2007, Jason campaigned in support of Measure 49 as an important first step in reforming our state land-use planning system. Jason has lived most of his adult life in Oregon, after growing up in the Midwest and Nigeria. Jason earned a B.A degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, in 1984 and pursued graduate studies in Research Psychology at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, from 1992-94.He moved from Benton County to rural Polk County near Dallas in 2000 with his wife, Lisanne Pearcy. Together they own and operate a thirty-acre hay farm. Jason has worked in a number of fields over his lifetime, including restaurants, shipping yard, sales, real estate, construction, assembly lines, technical support, computer research and development, and management. He is currently self-employed as a small business owner in website hosting. He has worked as a computer professional at a number of high-tech firms over the last 16-17 years, including Intel in Portland, and Hewlett-Packard and IGT Systems in Corvallis. In addition to his service to the community as a candidate for State Representative, Jason has volunteered on church boards and committees and organized various community events including concerts, fairs, parades, fundraisers and forums.
Jason is actively involved in the Democratic Party. He is a Democratic precinct committeeperson in Polk County and has served as delegate to the Democratic State Central Committee and as a member of the Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Committee.
The DemForum is a regular luncheon event featuring speeches by by Democratic and progressive officeholders and candidates. The $11 cost includes a buffet lunch, tea, and gratuity. Reservations are required
